Journey Rules

To ensure you are adequately prepared for this experience, please thoroughly review the following requirements to confirm that you meet the criteria for the duration of our time together.

Before the Journey

  1. If coming from abroad, you are responsible for booking your own transportation to the meeting point location. Transportation will be arranged from the meeting point location.
  2. To ensure we provide you with the best possible experience, a 30-minute video call will be conducted to ascertain your suitability for the journey. This step is crucial in understanding your expectations and preparing you adequately for the challenges ahead.
  3. A deposit of 50% of the total journey fee is required to confirm your place. Should you need to cancel, the deposit is retained if you cancel 30 days or more before the journey start date. If you cancel less than 30 days before the journey start date, 100% of the total fee is due. We encourage you to flag any uncertainty to our team before committing, so we can find the best solution together.
  4. Away Expedition reserves the right to cancel or postpone the journey if the minimum number of confirmed and paid participants has not been reached. In such cases, all payments received will be fully refunded within 7 business days. We will notify you as early as possible and work with you to find an alternative date.
  5. You are expected to bring personal equipment, such as clothes and shoes. We will provide most of the necessary equipment. You will be asked to complete an equipment list before departure to ensure you have everything needed.
  6. Following your payment confirmation, you will receive a separate email to warm you up for the journey. It requires an initial 10-minute read and a 2-minute daily practice until the journey starts. You acknowledge its importance and commit to completing it before your arrival.

During the Journey

  1. You must be physically fit and capable of walking 2 to 3 hours on challenging terrain surface.
  2. You must not have any medical conditions or illnesses that could pose a risk when distant from medical facilities.
  3. Smoking, alcohol consumption, and sexual activity are strictly prohibited during the journey.
  4. You must be able to follow instructions diligently.
  5. Communication should be restricted to technical inquiries and emergencies.
  6. Your mental fortitude is essential, as well as your physical endurance. Adhere strictly to the instructions provided.
  7. Electronics are not permitted and will be available again after the journey.

After the Journey

  1. Participants are encouraged to wait until the debrief before using their phone, to avoid being immediately pulled back into notifications or external distractions.
  2. Feel free to share your experiences, but please refrain from disclosing every detail to preserve the novelty for future participants.
  3. Four post-journey integration calls of 60 minutes will take place every Tuesday at 7:00 PM local time: the first Tuesday after the journey, one week later, one month later, and 90 days after the journey. Exact dates are confirmed in writing before departure. You acknowledge their importance and confirm you will be present, or will flag any conflict to our team before the journey begins.
  4. Please note that participation in the journey includes consent to the recording and publication of post-journey testimonials. If you prefer not to appear in public materials, please inform us before the journey.
